Jonathan Trumbull, Esquire. Captain General and Commander in Chief in and over the State of Connecticut in America. Original appointment of Josiah Nettleton to Lieutenant of the Company in the 32nd Regiment of Militia, New Haven, October 10, 1801, signed "Jona Trumbull," also signed by Samuel Wyllys. Jonathan was the older brother of American Revolutionary painter John Trumbull. He served as Connecticut Governor and as the first Comptroller of the U.S. Treasury. In 1795, Trumbull was elected Senator of Connecticut. The 13.5" x 8.5" document has some toning but is in good overall condition. The antique mahogany frame measures 11 x 16 inches.
