There are 12 images of this item.

Rare American art pottery jar made by Charles A Lawrence circa 1880. Excellent original patina and condition. Measures 10.5 inches high, 8.5 inches across at its widest point, and 4.5 inches across its top opening. This jar took the artisan potter a considerable amount of time to create. It was entirely hand-thrown, and each leaf was hand-formed and hand-painted. It is one of only five known examples in this exact paint scheme, form and decoration to have survived. Charles A. Lawrence Pottery operated in Beverly, MA, in the 1870's, and closed its doors in 1906. A certificate of authenticity is available with this piece. It was authenticated by Justin W. Thomas, an expert Lawrence pottery. He wrote an article that was published in the January 2014 printing of the New England Antiques Journal, and has another one tentatively to be published in the 2017 edition of Ceramics in America (Rob Hunter, Chipstone Foundation and the University Press of New England) that will detail the decorative ceramics made in Beverly, MA, after 1872.
