An impressive Japanese bronze-sheathed iron tetsubin or tea kettle with raised mille-fiori decoration, the skirt characteristically rough edged, having a stationary iron carry handle with similar floral decoration, topped by a removable cover with an acorn design finial. Made by the artist Heian Shochudo, Meiji Period, c. 1870. A rare and high collectible size in untouched condition. Dimensions, overall: 11" dia. X 17" H.
