Xijie Ko or Ko Si Chi, dye transfer photograph circa 1979 "Presence of Venus." Ko-Si Chi is a well-known senior photographer in Taiwan and is known as the first master of modern Taiwanese photography. Born in 1929, in Tainan. He loved literature, music, painting and photography. He purchase his first camera in his teenage years, by the age of 19 he was an accomplished photographer. He has devoted himself to photography ever since. New York's Hammer Gallery held a photography exhibition for Ko Si Chi in 1994, it is the first ever photography exhibition held in that gallery since its establishment 70 years ago, it confirms the quality and the details derived from Ko's "transfer technique," also elevated the value of photography collections. He was invited by National Arts Club of New York to hold an exhibition for the Taiwan Arts Festival in 1999. He was also invited by Edward Carter Gallery in SOHO, New York to hold an exhibition in 2001. We show a copy of the book published showing the works of Ko Si Chi. This image is listed as number 29 and the one he selected for the cover of the book.
