The Pool No Man's Land by Marion T. Meagher, on canvas dated 1912. Meagher, a New York artist of Irish descent, was well known in her day for her landscapes, portraits and scenic bronze relief plaques. Her work has been sold in major auction houses and is in many well known collections, such as the Eileen and Marvin Reingold collection. A front page story in the March 1, 1919 issue of American Art News described a $2150 jury award she won by suing the estate of New Jersey Senator John Hinchliffe for $5000, to collect the payment owed her for her 1907 portrait of him. The frame measures 18 x 22 inches and the painting measures 13 x 16 inches. Original frame and glass, excellent condition.
