Artist Frank A. Bicknell Old Lyme impressionist small landscape. Oil on masonite. Unsigned, estate stamp verso. Measures 6.75" x 4.5". Interesting brushpoint texture. Excellent condition. From a Lyme, CT, estate. Frank Alfred Bicknell was an important member of the Old Lyme, CT, art colony. He was born in 1866 in Augusta, ME, and died in 1943 in Essex, CT. His other addresses include Malden, MA, NYC, and Old Lyme, CT. He studied with his father, Albion H. Bicknell, and at Academie Julien, Paris. His memberships include ANA, Paris AAA, SC, NAC, Allied Am. Artists, NAD, SPNY, PAA and Chicago WC Soc. Please see Who Was Who in American Art, Vol. 1, page 309 for complete listing.
