F & C Osler pair of cut glass and bronze 5 arm candelabras. Each candelabra is 22.5 inches high and 10.75 inches across. Made between 1831 and 1924. Excellent condition. The celebrated Osler Glass Manufactory was established by Thomas Osler in Birmingham, England in 1807. His 2 sons, Follett and Clarkson, took control of the company in 1831. The firm was the leading maker of chandeliers and lighting fixtures in the 19th century. Their opulent glass furniture was favored by the Indian Maharajhas. the Pasha of Egypt commissioned 2 monumental candelabras in 1847. Prince Albert commissioned the company to make a chandelier for Queen Victoria's birthday in 1849. The firm produced a monumental 4 ton glass fountain for the Crystal Palace Exhibition of 1851; sadly, it was destroyed when the Palace burned down in 1936.
