Early French silver Tortoiseshell Pique Snuff box Paris France C1722. Hinged-box measures 3 inches x 2 1/8 inches x 7/8 inch.Tortoiseshell top with mother-of-pearl and silver insets. Rural scene of houses and land encircles the box. Hallmarks Paris, crowned "G" for 1723, crowned "A" for February 1722 - December 1726, the maker was Claude-Nicolas Gr?beude, who worked in Paris from 1723-1751,the marks indicate that this box dates to 1723.The central emblem on the lid of the box represents the Order of Calatrava. Original condition with two small mother of pearl circle designs missing
