Spanish artist Mariano Benlliure Y Gil sculptor relief. Spanish artist/sculptor Mariano Benlliure Y Gil was born in Valencia in 1862, and died in Madrid in 1947. He studied painting in Paris under Domingo Marquess, and switched to sculpture under the influence and tutelege of Miguel Angel in Rome. He specialized in religious subjects and public monument works. His commissioned works are found throughout Madrid, including the monument to Goya at the entrance to the Prado. Frame measures 32 and three quarters by 10 and one half inches. The repousee is 26 and one half inches by 8 and one half inches
