Antique Morris by Allen & Bros Phila PA, pat Feb 6 94. Morris chair. William Allen, Sr. established the business in 1835, dealing in rare and fancy woods. His sons, Joseph and William, Jr., succeeded him in 1847. They became known for very fine cabinetwork. Another son, James, became a partner in 1869. He closed the business in 1902. Your chair was made in 1894, as the label indicates. It is not a “pure” style, but a mix of styles; hence, its unusual appearance
