SOLD ITEM 4019 - Antique Tall Victorian open twist carved pedestal

There are 8 images of this item.

Antique Tall Victorian open twist carved pedestal made by the Merklen Brothers spiral furniture company in NYC between 1880 and 1897. This "Victorian Pedestal" is quite strong. I could easily hold a heavy bronze, marble or granite sculpture. Open twist carved pedestals are hard to come by because they were not produced in any great numbers due to the amount of work it took to carve them. This pedestal measures 36 and three quarter inches high and 14 and one quarter inches across its top. Old original finish.See the article in the May 2005 Magazine Antiques on Moorish Fretwork Furniture for more information on this furniture makers
