SOLD ITEM 3498 - Pennsylvania brace back armchair with a seven spindle back

There are 5 images of this item.

Pennsylvania brace-back armchair with a seven-spindle back. "Pennsylvania brace back chair" circa 1740-65. New York Windsors did not have bulb turnings at the feet. The ears, which are the round extensions at each end of the top crest, are plain. Collectors pay more for ears that are carved with a spiral or sunburst motif. The arm grips are also flat. Some Windsor chairs have knuckle-shaped grips at the ends of the arms, and again, collectors pay more for this important detail. The legs have retained their full height, and the surface is original.
