Antique 19th century North African camel seat. Made of wood and brass. This is a two-person dromedary camel saddle with ornate brass mountings and iron reinforcements over teak wood, with intricate copper alloy and iron. Saddles of similar design were used by Napoleon`s Dromedary Regiment during his Egyptian campaigns between 1798 and 1801. Measures 49.5" long x 18.5" wide x 15" high at the pommel. (Regiment des Dromadaires) Circa 1800, Collector Museum item. CAMPAGNE D'ÉGYPTE (1798-1801) BEAU ET RICHE BÂT (SELLE) DE DROMADAIRE. Campagne d'Égypte. A late 18th century Egyptian campaign camel saddle. Provenance: NOTE Similar example in the Army Museum at the Hotel National des Invalides, Paris. Could be use as a sculpture, wall decoration.
