Matched pair of early American Queen Anne chairs made by Nathaniel Dominy of East Hampton Long Island somewhere around the late 18th century. Connecticut, circa 1760-1780. Serpentine crest rails, vase form slats, and bulbous turned stretchers. Maple with dry original red wash surface. Later rush seats. The back side of the bulbous turnings on one chair are missing small cap sections along the grain, not uncommon in such early chairs. Dimensions: 40" high at back, 16" high at seat, 16.5" wide at rail, 19" wide at seat, and 14" deep.
