Antique Japanese "incense box" ,Wonderful Japanese incense box depicting a cat. Measures 2 and one half inches by 1 and one half inches. Beautiful glaze. C1840. Part of the original paper numbered label inside. Kairakuen. Kairakuen was the kiln of the tenth lord of Takugawa, Jiho, in Kishu. C1827-1852. This was a collection given to the Museum by French stateaman Georges Clemenceau in 1959, considered to be the largest and finest of its kind in the world.
